The Great Resignation
and Camping
The pandemic had significant impacts on how we
work as well as the workforce overall. Some of these
changes also impacted people's camping behavior.
A steady rise in the percentage of campers who
sometimes or always work while camping has been
observed since 2019, and increased from 37% to 46%
(including 50% of U.S. campers). In particular, this trend
is being driven by millennials, with 57% working on
their trips. The set of new campers is more likely than
experienced campers to work on their trips, as well
as those who live in urban areas, have children in the
household and higher-income households.
