Growth in Camping
Camping was already growing steadily year-over-year pre-pandemic – both in terms of how many households
actively participated in camping and in how much time people spent camping each year. However, the pandemic
dramatically impacted camping and outdoor recreation over the last two years. Camping, and the embracing of
glamping, is becoming a part of travel culture at a faster pace since the onset of the COVID-19 pandemic. As of
2021, 7-in-10 households identify themselves as at least occasional campers or glampers (93.8 million).
