Then hit the beach, Devils Lake or the Lincoln City Kite Festival (one in summer, one in fall). The area boasts miles of soft beaches, perfect for whale watching, lighthouse touring and glass-fl oat fi nding. Yes, the "fl oat fairies" of the Lincoln City Visitor and Convention Bureau hide thousands of handmade, multicolored glass fl oats along the beaches. You'll fi nd the same beautiful fl oats for sale in the campground store. At the end of the day, "fl oat" on back to KOA, close enough to the Pacifi c for easy access yet in- land enough to avoid coastal fog and wind. Enjoy a burger and local Tillamook ice cream. One of the local elk might even come through asking to share. This KOA is near the Tanger Outlet Center, Chinook Winds Casino Resort and the Spirit Mountain Casino. Max pull thru: 60 ft. N'bnd: Turn right at Tanger Outlet Center, go 4 miles on East Devils Lake Rd. 5 Klamath Falls Centrally located in Klamath Falls, this campground is the perfect jump-of spot to visit spectacular Crater Lake National Park, Lava Beds National Monument and numerous wildlife refuges. Bike or hike along the 100-mile, rail-to-trail OC & E Woods Line State Trail. Campers can also look forward to many special events during the year, including the Kruise of Klamath and the Klamath Kinetic Challenge in June, the Klamath County Fair in August and the Snowfl ake Festival in December. Displays in the riverfront Marine Park explain the 19th- century locks that made the turbulent Columbia passable (and gave Cascade Locks its name). In nearby Hood River, the Mount Hood Railroad links the Columbia Gorge with the foothills of snowcapped Mount Hood.
