Continue to Ranger Dr, 14.5 mi. Arrive R at KOA. 2 Charleston You'll know this campground is special the minute you drive through the entrance. Azaleas, oaks and loblolly pines give a signature touch to its Lowcountry charm. Nearby, the historic Magnolia Plantation and Middleton Place feature beautiful gardens. Beat the summer heat at Whirlin' Waters Adventure Waterpark (located within Wannamaker County Park). Attractions abound in lovely Charleston, where horse-drawn carriages clip-clop along the historic harbor. Tour Fort Sumter National Monument, where the Civil War began, and the aircraft carrier USS Yorktown. Whitewater Falls, the tallest series of falls east of the Rockies, of ers easy viewing and access. Stump- house Tunnel is a "cool" place to visit, especially in summer. Clemson University is 15 minutes away for family and friends attending graduation, summer camps or ath- letic events. The South Carolina Botanical Garden is located on University property. Learn about local species at Wallhalla State Fish Hatchery, or rent a pontoon boat on nearby Lake Hartwell and catch your own fi sh. Greenville is 30 minutes away, with great restaurants and festivals; Anderson also of ers terrifi c dining options. This KOA is close enough to Atlanta to be a pleasant afternoon drive.
