Enjoy local melons from the campground store in mid-June. With this KOA's convenient location of I-75, you have easy access to many area attractions. Head for sparkling Lake Blackshear, an 8,700-acre boating, fshing and waterskiing haven. Hop on the SAM Shortline train to visit President Jimmy Carter's former campaign headquarters in Plains and his boyhood home in Archery. You'll pass fanciful Victorian architecture at Americus, once a bustling cotton exchange. The Andersonville National Historic Site, the location of the Confederate prison camp, lies 40 miles west. Visit the Georgia Museum of Agriculture and Historic Village, just 30 miles south. Georgia Veterans Memorial Golf Course is 10 miles west. In season, visit a local strawberry farm. Exit 97 off I-75: Go west 1/8 mile. 2 Cartersville/Cassville-White Whether you're seeking the quiet of a country campground or the "Hot-Lanta" attractions of one of America's most vivacious cities, this KOA has you covered. The campground ofers quick-and-easy access from I-75, large pull thru sites and two huge pet-walk areas to help the whole family unwind from a road trip. With the red-rock rolling hills of northern Georgia surrounding you, you're a mere 45 to 50 freeway miles from Atlanta. Get out and explore the Etowah Indian Mounds Historic Site, the 1880s covered bridge and Pickett's Mill Battlefeld Historic Site. Or take a stroll through the Booth Western Art Museum. It's just a one-hour drive to Six Flags Over Georgia and Stone Mountain Park. Sample the historic charm of nearby Rome and Cartersville. Campground is on the left. 1 Calhoun Calhoun KOA is located 1.7 miles of of I-75, just far enough to enjoy the quiet scenery. Lots of amenities keep everyone busy, or you can just kick back and relax around a campfre. Join in the summertime weekend activities or spend the days exploring the historic Civil War and Cherokee Indian sites and museums. The New Echota Historic Site marks the capital of the Cherokee Nation. Located between Chattanooga and Atlanta, this KOA is a great spot to take it all in. If shopping interests you, there are antique stores and the Prime Outlets mall of Calhoun. A beautiful new rally center is ideal for get-togethers such as parties, meetings and reunions.
